Overall:

The highest volume scorer in the class, Cameron Thomas possesses immediate offensive value in the NBA. As a skilled shot creator who can create space against the best defenders, and stretch defenses out to near half-court, Thomas has one of the best scoring packages in the draft. He can score from anywhere on the floor, with an array of moves to get into his jumper, a reliable floater, good athleticism and strong finishing ability, and the ability to shoot both spot up and off the dribble jumpers. However, most of his areas for improvement stem from everything that is not scoring. He doesn’t get his teammates involved much for a point guard, he rarely put in maximum effort on the defensive end, and he struggled with turnovers quite frequently. If Thomas wants to become an efficient scorer in the NBA, he will have to significantly tone down his shot selection, which often was his own worst enemy at LSU.

Similar to: Jordan Clarkson, Lou Williams, Malik Monk

Projected draft range: 18-40

Expected role: Fits 2 guard lineups well as a pure scorer, either as a starter or bench spark plug

Unplayable if: Shot selection limits his offensive skill and he becomes an inefficient chucker, as well as his lack of defense irking teammates and coaches.

Exceeds expectations if: Scoring translates at a high level and he limits his bad shot volume, while maintaining low turnover rate.
