LaGerald Vick is Kansas’ most versatile prospect, as he plays anywhere from shooting guard to power forward. One of Kansas’ most electrifying plays they run is an alley-oop to Vick off a backdoor cut with the passer standing well behind the three point line. The 6’5 junior considered transferring after last season, but elected to stay for a junior season. It is expected that he will declare for the NBA Draft this summer. Vick played 33 minutes per game and averaged 12 PPG, 5 RPG, 2.3 APG, 0.9 SPG, and 1.7 TOPG on 49/36/66 shooting splits.

• Doesn’t thrive on scoring off the dribble
• Needs to add weight

Overall: LaGerald Vick may serve as an energy player early on in a limited role. His jump shot form involves a left-to-right release, which poses concerns for a potential streaky jump shot. Vick isn’t much of a shot creator, but has shown the ability to spot up and hit standstill jump shots. He knows his role in the Kansas offense, but it is unclear what his role or position is in an NBA offense. His best impact will come as a bench defender and off-ball cutter on offense off the bench. Vick is considered to have a mild floor and a low ceiling.

Fit with Mavericks: Vick can thrive in the same role that Jae Crowder was used in prior to being traded to Boston by serving as an energy player that contributed some shooting. Vick is a plus athlete, he possesses a high motor, and he knows how to play his role. Given those attributes, he should fit with what the Mavericks are trying to do by being a bench player. While that’s not the most attractive role to fill, it is one that can help hold leads and not have drop-offs when the starters go out.
