A former UCLA commit, Daishen Nix joined the revolutionary G-League Ignite roster as one of 4 prospects to go pro in the G-League Bubble in 2021. On the year (15 games) Nix averaged 8.8 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 5.3 APG, 1 SPG, 0.2 BPG, and 2.9 TOPG on shooting splits of 38/18/71. Below is his full scouting report:
Name: Daishen Nix
Height/Weight: 6’4 / 226
Wingspan/ standing reach: 6’7 / 8’4
Hand size: 9
Position: PG
Pre-Draft team: G League Ignite
Tools: Playmaking, IQ
Pros:
- Intelligent ball-handler
- Good length for a point guard
- Strong instincts on both ends
- Good in P&R offensively
Cons:
- Poor in transition
- Needs to improve conditioning
- Not much of a shooter
- Doesn’t blow by defenders; struggles to create separation
Overall:
Daishen Nix is a playmaker with a high feel for the game. Nix is one of the best playmakers in the class, with an innate ability to run pick & roll, manipulate defenses, and set up teammates at a high level. However, Nix’s offensive strengths stop at playmaking. Nix needs to speed up his jumper, improve his touch, and improve his overall shot-making ability in every facet. Additionally, he needs to improve his conditioning to better beat defenders, and for the other end of the floor to stick with his man in isolation. Nix was in the 1st percentile of transition, which is an alarming factor in projecting his game translating. Nix is a project that will need to go to a team that can both afford to be patient with him in learning to score in the NBA, and a team that can surround him with shooters.
