Jose Alvarado is a crafty, deceptive point guard that can cause chaos on the defensive end, create for others, and shoot off the dribble well. Defensively, Alvarado can force turnovers with his active hands and quick reaction time, while also forcing ball pickups or forcing the ball-handler to pass away from Alvarado. Offensively, Alvarado has a sharp ability to involve others and make his teammates’ job off-ball as easy as possible. With his tight handle, good vision, and excellent basketball IQ & overall decision making, Alvarado deceives defenders and finds teammates with ease as a playmaker. His shooting opens up his playmaking, and vis-versa. Alvarado found a lot of success shooting off the dribble in a variety of ways, whether it be on deep pull-ups, quick mid range pull-ups, or turnaround jumpers. He also can shoot from deep as a spot up shooter, and has a quick release. Overall, Alvarado has a well-rounded game that makes him immediately projectable as a backup point guard.
