Sixers Vs Celtics Game Notes: October 18, 2022

Other
  • Celtics were elite in mid range. It started with Tatum, but Jaylen Brown and Malcolm Brogdon were the cherry on top
  • Malcolm Brogdon took a while to check in, but looked incredibly valuable as a glue piece doing anything asked of him
  • James Harden was getting where he wanted when he wanted, especially in isolation; he was the best player on the court
  • Embiid played lazily, and didn’t hunt mismatches more
  • It was odd that Matisee Thybulle couldn’t crack the rotation; Danuel House offered nothing on either end, why couldn’t Thybulle take some of his minutes? Celtics abused the Sixers’ wing defense
  • Tyrese Maxey can carry the bench unit and hold his own when Harden is resting/off the court. Rivers can be creative with their rotations this season because of that; Maxey gives them tons of flexibility
  • Tobias Harris played well in the first half, but disappeared in the second half. He has to stay aggressive and find the ball more after starting hot
  • PJ Tucker brings tons of value to this team. The Sixers will be in a lot of scuffles; Tucker is a great locker room presence on how to embrace the ‘bad guy’ role
  • De’Anthony Melton
  • Blake Griffin’s presence on the glass won the Celtics four possessions; he was going hard on the boards against Harrell, and providing good box outs. The Celtics have a lot of options on how to use Griffin against different types of lineups
  • Grant Williams will earn a lot of money this year as one of the top role players. He was perfect from the field, including a disgusting fake and 3
